THE VINTAGE

2018 was a year marked by a rainy spring followed by a summer drought that lasted until the harvest. This exceptional climate enabled us to pick sun-drenched grapes with serenity. The maturity of the harvest was such that we were able to vinify and mature the wine in all simplicity, thus producing a fleshy wine with deep aromas.

THE TASTING

The wine is powerful. It offers a dense and velvety tannic structure, aromas of very ripe red fruits (black cherry, jammy strawberry, blackberry), woody notes (clove, cocoa bean, vanilla) and minerality.

« A dark, smoky and slightly introverted nose, with a dusty juniper berry in bay leaf freshness to the creamed blackcurrant fruits. A beautiful confident palate, a contrast to the rather quiet character seen on the nose, with a breadth of dark, spicy, blackcurrant and black cherry fruits, with a black pepper and soot substance, along with lots of velvety, tightly knit tannins and energetic acidity. This is fresh, pure, bright and substantial, with plenty of energy and a long grip. »

For a good tasting, we recommend decanting the wine or opening the bottle 4 hours before the meal, and serving it « chambré », i.e. between 18 and 19° C.
