A Pomerol story

AN ANCIENT CRU

In 1761, Pierre de Belleyme was mandated by King Louis the XVth to map the province of Guyenne (a territory that today runs from the Gironde to the Aveyron).

The mapping engineer would dedicate two decades to establish the map with an unprecedented precision and detail. Thanks to this work, that allowed him to become ennobled, one was able to discover Château Taillefer mapped for the first time.

A CORREZIAN PIONEER

At the end of the 19th Century, numerous Correzians left their poor countryside to settle in the Libourne area. They were to buy wine domains and managed to develop their rapid renown throughout the world.

Antoine Moueix was part of these first settlers. After having set up his wine merchant trade, he decided to become a winegrower. For his first acquisition, he chose Château Taillefer in 1923.

FIVE GENERATIONS

In 2013, Château Taillefer was entrusted to its 5th generation. Claire and her husband, Cyril, strive to perpetuate the family tradition and bring a fresh, new perspective.

As custodians of this exceptional site, they are attached to its preservation while searching for excellence. They have at heart to craft a great wine of Pomerol and to reveal its personality, vintage after vintage.

We craft the wine of Château Taillefer so as to fully express its intense seduction and its natural elegance.

Its seduction comes into being from the richness of its aromas where the red and black fruit are serenaded by the flowers. Its minerality, spices and woody notes heighten its long, fragrant finish.

Its natural elegance emanates from the caressing texture of its tannins and its style, both modern and classic.
