AT THE BEND OF A PATH

Just after the vineyard of Pomerol, leave behind you the mediaeval city of Saint-Emilion.

Glide through the routes of this lovely hilly and wooded countryside.

And at the bend of a path, on the edge of the centenary oaks, is nestled Tauzinat l’Hermitage.

NARROW VALLEYS AS FAR AS THE EYE CAN SEE

Tauzinat l’Hermitage is a plateau that is swept by the wind and the sun;

narrow wooded valleys punctuated by vineyards as far as the eye can see;

the smell of mint that grows between the vine plants;

the cry of a hawk that calls your attention toward the sky.

A HAVEN OF GREENERY

Throughout the season, the parcels acquire a carpet of flowers both simple and charming.

The wild daisies in the springtime, the sweet peas in the summer and the flamboyance of the leaves in the automn.

Deers or a fox that pass between the wild grass….

ON A LAND OF EXCEPTION

Saint-Emilion is a vast appellation,

a mosaic of terroirs at the origin of a great diversity of wines.

Extract from the Belleyme map, 18th century

At the heart of the appellation, one finds the famous clay-limestone plateau.

It is on this land of exception that Tauzinat l’Hermitage is perched.

And if one were to ask the connoisseurs of the region what sustains a wine’s remarkable qualities ?
They would tell you: « It’s the terroir of course ! »

A UNIQUE TERROIR

Perched at 95 meters of altitude, on the northern border of the clay-limestone plateau,

Tauzinat l’Hermitage is a terroir within the terroir:

a unique micro-climate, a remarkable subsoil and geological structure.

It is a place where the temperature is cool and the clay is particularly deep and dense;

The Merlot and the Cabernet Franc provide a wine that has a unique personality.

Nature is matter, spirit is matrix.

That’s it ! exclaimed Gauguin

BEHIND THE SCENE

The wine of Tauzinat l’Hermitage is born from the singularity of its terroir and the men who cultivate it.

Its apparent simplicity does not reveal the complexity of its elaboration.

Choosing the cultural techniques, the vinification and the ageing requires an ongoing and essential questioning.

Revealing its personality requires attentiveness at each and every moment, the art and skill of a goldsmith and a good dose of instinct !

Claire Moueix and Cyril Basteau

Claire and Cyril seek to craft a living wine, a sincere reflection of Tauzinat l’Hermitage.

Their philosophy? Preserve the character of the vineyard, loyally transmute the terroir into the wine, craft and age the wine with simplicity and thoroughness.

In other words, let the wine « just be ».

They surround themselves with a dedicated team, vine and cellar hands as well as artisans that share the desire to put their know-how to the service of this passion.

With respect and goodwill, they accompany this place that imperceptibly transcends time and generations.

FROM WINE TO EMOTION

The wine of Tauzinat l’Hermitage is distinguished from a classic Saint-Emilion Grand Cru and astonishes by its personality.

The first thing that tasters perceive, whether novice or enlightened, is the fruit: a flavorful fruit that is both intense and vibrant.

A plethora of red berry fruit, but also spices, flowers or even mushrooms and minerality.

Equally surprising are the silky and savory tannins that provide enormous delicacy and charm !
