Plenitude of flavours
THE VINTAGE
2016 is a magical vintage in Bordeaux. With a year in a dry and cool climate, the terroir was able to fully express itself. Vinified and matured with simplicity, the wine, both dense and complex, has remarkable ageing potential.
THE TASTING
The wine is powerfull. It offers a dense and velvety tannic structure, aromas of ripe red fruits (black cherry, jammy strawberry), woody notes (white pepper, clove, cocoa bean) and minerality.
« Dark and lightly roasted fruit on the nose, all black plum and black cherry, with a fresh, lightly sooty lift to it. A lovely texture and creamed plum confidence on the finish, fresh and pure, with succulent black cherry stone fruit. Lots of smoky elements here, complicated by nuances of toast, grilled nuts, praline and cinnamon spice. A fresh, charming and delightful wine, with lots of grippy tannin underneath, fresh acidity and a good perfumed lift. »

For a good tasting, we recommend decanting the wine or opening the bottle 4 hours before the meal, and serving it « chambré », i.e. between 18 and 19° C.
Château Taillefer 2016 will go well with our south-western specialities, a beautiful entrecote or a grilled duck breast. It can also be enjoyed with well-ripened or strong-tasting cheeses.
